Dear parents/guardians,
I am writing to update you on the situation with school for the remainder of the summer term. As you may be aware, we are welcoming Year 10 into school for some face to face support from the 23rd June for a partial reopening, after the Prime Minister announced that the Government’s 5 tests have been met. The guidelines only allow us to have no more than one quarter of a year group in at any time, alongside the critical workers group. This is based on the latest scientific and medical advice, which says that we need to continue to control the numbers attending school to reduce the risk of increasing transmission.
The Government updated their guidance on Tuesday and asked schools to explore arranging some face to face meetings with other year groups before the end of term. In light of the new guidance, we are planning to invite students into school for a socially distanced meeting/assembly with myself, Mr Scoltock, Deputy Headteacher and Progress Leaders. These will last half an hour with students allocated to bubbles comprising of no more than 14 students and will enable us to touch base with students to ensure they are supported before a return to school in September. Further detailed information will be made available to you in the coming weeks but at this stage, we need to know how many parents will be sending students back in each year group.
Online learning remains the main method of education during the remainder of this term. To support students further in their learning, all teachers have recorded audio lessons in all subjects and these will be available on Google Classroom for all students from Years 7 to 10 from Monday 22nd June. We hope that by hearing the familiar voices of teachers, this will re-engage students and support them in their remaining weeks of learning this term.
We are putting an extensive range of measures in place to protect both students and staff but it is necessary, at this stage of our planning, that we gather some information from you (see our survey below), one of the main questions being whether or not your child will be returning to school. This will give us an indication of numbers so that we can plan effectively to see if we can achieve this within the guidelines provided.
ACTION REQUIRED BY THURSDAY 25TH JUNE:
Please complete the following survey by clicking on the link below, no later than Thursday 25th June;
Year 9 Survey - https://forms.gle/BEXzQTWkZKq9s8Md9
Following the results of the survey, we will then be able to make further information available to you. Finally, we urge you to remain safe and continue to follow the Government guidelines. We are all missing the students and look forward to seeing them again very soon.
Yours sincerely,
Rachel Hudson
Headteacher
