Year 7s this term have been studying the Norman invasion of 1066. As part of their studies they have looked at the different forms of control that the Normans used to secure their invasion. They looked at the Feudal system, the Domesday Book and Motte and Bailey castles. As part of their homework pupils were asked to build historically accurate Motte and Bailey castles. The choice of building material was left to individual choice. The Y7s embraced this task with a lot of enthusiasm and creativity. There were castles made from papier-mâché, cardboard box castles and most exciting of all ‘Great British bake off’ inspired cake castles.
