Dear Parents and Carers,
As we approach the beginning of our formal transition process, it is important to share some key dates and information with you. You will find these details on the attached letter from Mr Sabri; no action is needed from this letter.
You will also find 3 buttons on this page; these buttons will take you to 3 digital forms that you are required to complete. These documents will provide us with key information that is needed to begin to set up your child's student profile on our electronic systems. Paper copies are available at the school reception if required and you can contact them on 01244 371475 to request a pack.
A lot of work has already begun behind the scenes to make sure that the transition process is as smooth as possible for all of our learners. Mr Forbes, who we are delighted to inform you will be the Progress Leader for Year 7, has also begun to visit your child's Year 6 teachers and he will be contacting you all shortly with further information and to introduce himself formally.
As always, please do not hesitate to get in touch with us if you have any questions or if you require any support.

to building a strong working partnership with you and your child and are excited about what the future holds for them.
This letter will provide you with some brief information around the transition process that will help support your child
settling into Blacon High School. Further updates will be posted on our School Website.
Each cohort has their own Progress Leader and the Year 7 Lead will oversee the entire transition process. This role is
to ensure that every child engages fully with their education, removing any potential barriers that may arise. I am
delighted to inform you that Mr Forbes will be progress leader for your son/ daughter.

Our Pastoral Team for Year 7 will consist of six tutors alongside the Progress Leader and Learning Mentor. The Pastoral
Team will visit all primaries to discuss learners and gather key information. We will also hold a ‘Meet the Tutor’ day on
Wednesday 13th July where you will be invited in to meet your child’s tutor and share any key information.
Transition Days for All
All of our new Year 7 students will visit the school on Tuesday 12th July, 9.30am – 2.30pm. This will provide them with
the opportunity to experience a ‘Day in the Life’ at Blacon High School where they will begin to familiarise themselves
with our expectations and routines. Additionally, we run separate transition days for those who require a more
comprehensive process and we will work closely with our partner primaries to identify and support this.
We will be asking primary schools to identify their most able students in English, Maths, Performing Arts and
Technology and we will be running four weeks of Masterclass Sessions on Monday 20th June, 27th June, 4th July and
11th July. These sessions will take place at Blacon High School, 3.30 – 4.30pm. Invitations are to be sent out next term.
Finally, we are also looking at the possibility of running a one‐week Literacy and Numeracy focused summer camp again
this year and will be in touch with you with further information soon. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate
to contact us. We are excited about what lies ahead and are looking forward to your child joining us.
