Year 11 Leavers’ Arrangements
Dear parents and carers,
As Year 11 have now completed all of the assessments and evidence needed for teachers to award centre assessed grades, we would like to inform you that students will finish on Friday 21st May at the end of the day. Further information on how these grades have been awarded will be sent to you next week.
We would like to formally mark the end of Year 11 by inviting all students to a Leavers’ assembly on Friday 28th May. This will be their last opportunity in school to gather as a year group and to say goodbye as this is a chance to celebrate their time in the school and for staff and students to share memories of their time at Blacon High School.
Students should arrive in full uniform between 2.20 and 2.30pm at the main reception, where they will be registered. There will be an opportunity to sign shirts and we ask that students bring a spare shirt for this. The event will run from 2.30 – 3.30pm. Students will be presented with their Record of Achievement and staff will be there to say goodbye. We will also provide refreshments, pizza and chips for students to enjoy.
We have arranged this special event at this time to allow us to manage the different bubbles in school and to provide an opportunity for all of the staff to join in to mark this special moment for the students.
As always, we expect the highest standards of behaviour and in the unlikely event of anyone not meeting these expectations, they will be asked to leave and parents informed.
We ask that any textbooks be returned to school on this day, to support future students. Next week, we may contact some individual students if they are required to complete any final pieces of work. For all other students, there will be resources on Google Classroom to support careers, next steps and preparation for post 16 study or work.
We look forward to celebrating again with students at the Year 11 leavers’ Prom on Thursday 8th July 2021 at the Doubletree by Hilton Hotel, in the Abbey Suite between 7.30 and 10.30pm. Further arrangements will be shared with you nearer the date.
In the meantime, if you have any questions, please do contact Mr Forbes, Mrs Carr, Year 11 Progress Leaders or myself.
May I take this opportunity to thank you for your continued support and wish our Year 11 students all the very best for the future.
Yours sincerely,
Mrs Rachel Hudson
