Update on Covid-19 in school – Year 7
Dear Parents and Carers,
We are writing to advise you that we have just received confirmation of 6 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Year 7. We are aware that a number of other children are also awaiting PCR test results.
This now meets the threshold set by the Government and requires us to inform the Department for Education, to introduce some temporary, additional measures to reduce the risk of transmission, and to seek support and advice as necessary.
All children and staff within Year 7 are considered close contacts and we would advise you to arrange for your child to have a PCR test as soon as possible and to monitor your child closely for symptoms of COVID-19. If possible, please do this at the end of the school day. The main symptoms of COVID-19 are the recent onset of:
- new continuous cough and/or
- high temperature and/or
- a loss of, or change in, normal sense of taste or smell (anosmia)
Testing can be arranged by calling 119 or via the NHS website: www.nhs.uk/coronavirus
Please keep us informed of the result of the test.
If your child remains well and symptom-free they should continue to attend school as normal, including while awaiting their PCR test result.
Children who are at home will have access to learning via Google Classroom but they should only participate in the work if they feel well enough to do so.
Please continue to stay in contact if your child is unwell so that we can offer you support as appropriate.
If you have any questions or concerns, please contact school.
