As a part of your child’s education at Blacon High School, we promote personal wellbeing and development through a comprehensive Personal, Social, Health and Economic (PSHE) education programme. PSHE education is the curriculum subject that gives young people the knowledge, understanding, attitudes and practical skills to live safe, healthy, productive lives and meet their full potential.
PSHE education is taught throughout the school in every year group and all PSHE teaching takes place in a safe learning environment and is underpinned by our school ethos and values.
Part of the PSHE statutory requirements for both Primary and Secondary schools is RSE (Relationships and Sex Education) and this must be delivered to all students during the course of the academic year.
Below in the folders are three documents for you to read to inform you about our PSHE curriculum and what the students must study.
1.A topic overview of the 2021 – 2022 PSHE curriculum for all year groups
2.A booklet from Cre8tive Resources detailing the PSHE themes covered each year. We have bought a comprehensive PSHE 5 Year package from Cre8tive Resources who have developed a course matching the new 2020 statutory PSHE school guidance. We have taken a range of themes and topics from each year group to include in our own PSHE curriculum.
3.A detailed Excel document detailing each of the statements from the PSHE statutory guidance, which must be covered in schools across the year groups and Key Stages. The tabs at the bottom of the document allow you to switch between each Core Theme and year group. There are three PSHE core themes: Health and Wellbeing, Relationships and Living in the Wider World. Each theme has subsections and contains a number of statements which all students must learn.
