Blacon High School – More Than a School

Successful 11-16 secondary school is seeking enthusiastic, suitably qualified Teaching Assistants to support the learning of all students, including those with special educational needs. The role involves working with teachers, SENDCo, and a dedicated support team to enhance the development of our students.

We are looking for applicants who are approachable, highly motivated, solution focused and flexible. You must be open to change, and be able to cope with the various demands of working in a busy, engaging, exciting and successful secondary school.

We are looking for colleagues with:

  • a positive, ‘can do’ attitude
  • excellent communication skills
  • a desire to make a difference to our students’ lives
  • experience in supporting children with social and emotional needs
  • high expectations and a commitment to ensuring that young people with additional needs are able to prosper and succeed, both personally and academically

Blacon High School prides itself on being relentless in its desire to provide outstanding learning opportunities, and the successful candidate will join a well-established team. In September 2016 we moved into a new state of the art building and a further extension was completed in September 2021 due to the school being oversubscribed for the 4th year. This has enabled the school to grow from 600 to 750 students.

Further information relating to this role can be found in the accompanying job description and person specification and by visiting the School website at www.blaconhighschool.net. For an informal discussion, or to arrange a visit please contact Mrs Kate Henshall, SENDco khenshall@blaconhigh.cheshire.sch.uk or Mrs Rachel Hudson, Rhudson@blaconhigh.cheshire.sch.uk Headteacher on 01244 371475.

Please apply using the online application form from the Cheshire West and Chester Council website. Please note that CVs will not be accepted. Application queries via email to

recruitment@blaconhigh.cheshire.sch.uk.

Blacon High School is fully committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff to share this commitment. An enhanced DBS disclosure will be sought for the successful candidate in accordance with Safeguarding Children and Safer Recruitment in Education legislation.
