We are looking to appoint a dynamic, enthusiastic, and inspirational Head of Technology with energy, vision, and a commitment to innovation. The Head of Technology will join this very successful 11-16 secondary school to lead and support a thriving, professional department to deliver an effective curriculum.


The Head of Technology is responsible for ensuring the safety and welfare of students and will lead the team in providing high standards of teaching. Additionally, they are expected to promote a positive learning environment across the whole department and support the ethos, aims and vision of the school.


The successful candidate will lead on all aspects of Design Technology and will seek to generate
enthusiasm for the subject amongst students and colleagues. We are looking for a creative practitioner who is passionate about Technology, and will enthuse students in their appreciation of STEM. The successful candidate will have the ambition to lead a teaching team to:

 

  • Promote creative opportunity through the curriculum and enrichment activity which inspires students to recognise and actively develop their talents
  • Strive for, and promote excellence in all Technology disciplines
  • Embrace new technology and ensure that learning is inspirational and cutting edge whilst also developing traditional skills
  • Provide opportunities for students to exhibit and showcase their work to inspire both the school community and the wider community

The successful candidate will lead the reviewing of courses at KS4 and craft an exciting vision for the future. With a high level focus on the development of learning and teaching and data management, the Head of Department will report to the Deputy Headteacher in order to drive standards and enhance the educational provision for the students. This is a fantastic opportunity to craft and lead a new and creative route forward for the team to secure positive outcomes across the faculty.


The post would suit an experienced and outstanding teacher who is committed to teaching at the

Blacon High School prides itself on being relentless in its desire to provide outstanding learning
opportunities, and the successful candidate will join a well-established team. In September 2016 we moved into a new state of the art building and a further extension was completed in September 2021 due to the school being oversubscribed for the 4th year. This has enabled the school to grow from 600 to 750 students.
