    Children in Need Bake Off

The staff at Blacon High School have been very busy baking cakes for the annual Children in Need Bake Off.

It's a hotly contested competition every time and this year's winner iwas Maths teacher Miss Price for her amazing calculator cake.

Miss Macintosh gets a special 'comedy value' commendation for her Cookie Monster.

We then had a cake sale at break that raised £213.50 for Children in Need.

Thanks as always to everyone who joined in the fun.

National Week of Action to Tackle Knife Crime

    Dear Parents and Carers,

This week – 14th – 18th November, is National Week of Action to Tackle Knife Crime.  We have arranged for our local PCSO, PC Roberts to come into school to deliver an assembly on the importance of Knife Crime Awareness. During the week there will be a focus nationally on the different strands of education, engagement, prevention and enforcement, all of which are important in playing a part to reduce knife crime. For further information on how forces are coming together to tackle this, please visit

We have previously held Knife Crime assemblies with a registered Nurse Clinician that included descriptions and images of the dangers associated with knives. The assemblies over the coming weeks are being delivered from a legal perspective to raise awareness and educate students on the dangers of knife crime. These assemblies may contain some upsetting themes.

On Friday 18th November PC Roberts will deliver the assembly in the morning to Year groups 9 and 10. The following week this assembly will be delivered to Year 7 and 8 on the 25th November. Year 11 will experience the assembly following their planned mock exams at a date to be confirmed.

As a school we pride ourselves on developing the characters of our students with an extensive curriculum along with learning experiences that prepare them for the future. This assembly is another opportunity for students to engage with further learning as well as the local Police Force in the community.  The purpose is to inform students if certain life choices are made, this could increase their chances of becoming involved in knife crime. We are committed to working together with the Police to prevent this for all young people within the community.  Other schools across Cheshire West and Chester will also be raising awareness of this through work with the Police.

We would encourage parents and carers to discuss this assembly at home and we will publish a summary of the key points made in the assembly on our website. If you have any questions or feedback about the assembly please do not hesitate to contact the school.
