IMPORTANT INFORMATION ABOUT REAPPLYING FOR A PLACE IN SCHOOL AFTER HALF TERM AND EARLY FINISH ON WEDNESDAY
Dear Parents and Carers,
We have taken the decision to close at the end of lesson 3 on Thursday 11th February to support the running of the Year 11 parents evening which will be taking place. Students who are attending school on this day, will be dismissed early at the following times;
Years 7 and 8 - Dismissed at 12.10pm
Years 9, 10 and 11 - Dismissed at 12.20pm
Lunch will still be available for those who require it. Remote learning will continue to take place throughout the day, and this may take the form of live lessons, pre-recorded lessons or online tasks. Teachers will communicate arrangements for the day with students through Google Classroom.
School will then be closing at the end of Friday 12th February for one week for half term. As the national lockdown continues, provision for children of critical workers and for those students whom we have contacted, will continue after half term from Monday 22nd February. The majority of students will continue with remote learning through Google Classroom. Even though the Government have mentioned a possible return in March, we have no confirmed details and it is therefore quite likely that the current situation will continue for a significant proportion of the spring term.
Due to a large increase in numbers in recent weeks, we are asking families who are critical workers, to reapply for a place so that we can effectively plan for the correct amount of staffing in school, in order to keep staff and students safe. Please consider carefully if a place is needed as it is important for us to balance provision in school with the need to keep numbers low in order to keep everyone safe, due to the prevalence of Covid-19. If you can keep your child at home, we ask that you do so.
Parents whose work is critical to the coronavirus and EU transition response including those who work in health and social care and in other key sectors are allowed to send their children to school. Children with at least one parent or carer who is a critical worker can go to school if required, but parents and carers should keep their children at home if they can. If you are not at work every day and are able to have your child at home for part of the week, we would ask you to only send your child in on the days needed, again, to help us to reduce the number of contacts and rates of transmission. If you still require a place for your child, please complete the following questions on the link below by 4pm on Wednesday 10th February.

If you haven’t yet submitted evidence of your critical worker status, please send it in to admin@blaconhigh.cheshire.sch.uk
I thank you in advance for your continued support and trust that you are understanding of the need to keep everyone safe by keeping numbers as low as possible, whilst supporting families.
