Autumn Term 1 Sports Report
Football
Since September, the boys have played 22 competitive football fixtures against schools inside and outside Chester District. Against Bishops High School we won, Year 7 (3-2) Year 9 (8-2) and Year 10 (2-0) with Year 8 losing 5-4 in an exciting game. Against Queens Park High School, Year 7 drew 1-1, Year 8 won 5-1 in a good performance but the Year 10 b team lost. Year 7, 8 and 10 lost close encounters against Tarporley High School but Year 11 recorded an impressive 5-3 away win. The Year 8 team finished the term with a defeat against Bishops Heber High School and the Year 11 team were knocked out of the Chester Cup by Bishops Heber 5-2 in an entertaining match. Year 7 and Year 8 both lost their Chester Cup matches against The Kings School with Year 9 and Year 10 hoping to do better and reach round two.
In the ESFA Small Schools Cup, Year 8 lost an incredible game 5-4 to William Hulme Grammar School from Manchester and Year 10 were impressive, winning 7-2 against Ormiston Horizon Academy from Stoke. The cup run ended with Year 10 losing in the second round to De Le Salle School from Liverpool. Year 9 are flying in the competition, beating Savio Salesian College, Stanley High Schoo land last year’s winners Clitheroe Grammar 4-2 to reach round 4 of the competition.
The Year 7 and Year 11 teams have played their Chester and District 7 a side football tournaments with both teams finishing 3rd in the group stage and missing out on the semi-finals. Year 11 beat Christleton High School 1-0, drew 0-0 with Bishops High School and Upton High but lost 1-0 to Queens Park High in a close game to finish 3rd. Year 7 had to beat Kings in the last group stage game to reach semi-finals but lost 1-0 in the last minute to finish 3rd in their respective group.

Year 7 – Louis Harrison, Cameron Eymond and Mason Cree
Year 8 – Charlie Cottis, Jamie Jones and Jack Lockley
Year 9 – Brandon Burrows, Kieran Ball, Harley Bennion and Charlie Moore
Year 10 – Dwayne Smith, Ryan Robinson and Liam Roberts
Year 11 – Christoph Aziamale, Shaun Shrigley and Joe Jones
Netball
Since September, the girls Year 7, 8, 9 and 10 teams have played competitive friendly matches against Bishops Heber, Bishops High School and Kings School. The girls played some decent netball and have worked hard in clubs with Mrs Wright and Miss Flynn to perfect their skills. The effort in clubs is paying off with Year 9 and Year 10 recording decent wins against strong Bishop Heber teams. All teams lost close matches against Kings and Bishops High School but have improved their knowledge and skills as a team and all teams are looking forward to Chester and District Netball tournaments.

Year 9 – Alisha Mitchell, Alisha Cox, Chloe Carswell, Ellen Quinn and Ellie Tyrrell
Year 10 – Kayleigh Spencer and Claire Jones
Extra Curricular Clubs for girls have been well attended on a Tuesday delivered by Hannah Dean who is determined and passionate about developing girls PE and to help improve performance.
Gymnastics practice for Year 8 and 9 has taken place ready for the team selection. The competition will be held in December and the pupils who have been selected are:
Year 7 – Chloe Brisbane
Year 8 – Hollie Burrows, Alisha Heap and Catrina Innes
Year 9 – Amber Sconce, Alisha Mitchell, Elisha Cox, Sophie Cooper and Chloe Carswell.
These pupils will have to perform a floor rhythmic routine and a vault. They will be practising next term and hoping to do as well as last year when we came 2nd overall.
Within the BEV, Mr Forbes and Mrs Carr have delivered high quality PE lessons to primary school and we hosted the Year 5 and Year 6 Tag Rugby competition which was enjoyed by all schools and won by JH Godwin.
