Cancellation of Year 11 Prom – 8th July 2021
Dear Year 11 students, parents and carers,
It is with regret that we are writing to inform you, that due to the delay in the national roadmap for lifting restrictions, we are now unable to hold the Year 11 Prom on Thursday 8th July 2021.
Unfortunately, these measures are completely out of our control and the decision was in response to government announcements and liaising with the venue. We are sorry that we are unable to go ahead and have delayed informing you because we were exploring every avenue to see if there was any way we could hold it. After further consultation with Public Health, we are unable to go ahead. Due to the uncertainty around the current situation with Covid both locally and nationally, we feel it is fairer to cancel the event, to allow students the chance to gain refunds on any purchases made if required.
The following information was released from Public Health yesterday;
Public Health - School social events
Due to the delay in the national road map all schools should be mindful that social gatherings of more than 6 people indoors remain illegal in England. This applies regardless of whether children are in bubbles together. Education activities are exempt from this, but if the gathering is after school and for social purposes, the rule of 6 still applies.
This is extremely frustrating for us all and we too are disappointed that we are unable to go ahead but we are sure you can all understand this decision.
We look forward to welcoming you back in the summer for your results on the 12th August 2021.
We will make full refunds to all students who have paid and these will be processed by Monday 28th June via Parent pay.
Yours sincerely,
Mrs Rachel Hudson
Headteacher
