Blacon High School is to welcome a £500,000 3G football pitch paid for by the Football Association.
Blacon High School is undergoing a complete rebuild, with work well on schedule for completion this June.
The current, outdated building will be demolished once pupils are transferred to the new build.
The new all-weather pitch will also be available for community use and is just one of a number of exciting planned facilities for the new £11.5 million school, said Assistant Headteacher David Stockdale.
Construction experts Morgan Sindall have been working on the site adjacent to the existing school on Melbourne Road.
It will accommodate 600+ pupils aged 11-16, and feature modern dining, IT and drama facilities and more.
Mr Stockdale said: “We are delighted with the news that the school is to have a 3G football pitch, it is something that will be a big asset to the school and the community.”
The new school build is part of the Education Funding Agency’s (EFA) Priority School Building Programme, which aims to provide purpose-built school buildings to those in most need of repair.
