Week One
Well, I’m delighted to report that we managed to get through to the end of our first week successfully.
‘Yes’, there have been a lot of changes to our usual routines; ‘yes’, there have been challenges to overcome such as a new one-way system, a staggered start and finish to the school day, staggered breaks and lunches and lots of extra cleaning and hygiene routines to adopt, and ‘yes’, there have been a lot of new students to settle in, but we did it, and we did it with style.
Students should be congratulated for how they managed to take everything in their stride and are a credit both to you, and to us, on a daily basis.
Great News
Monday 14th September sees the return of the Breakfast Club, which will be served from our new, external ‘Pod’ that is situated behind the Diner.
Breakfast Club is free of charge to everyone and will serve a selection of hot and cold breakfast foods, cereals and a hot drink.
Opening times are:
KS3: 8.00am – 8.25am KS4: 8.40 – 9.00am
Kelly is looking forward to seeing you all bright and early next week!
Remember, while restrictions are still in place, bottled water is also available free of charge to students at break and lunch

Catch Up
As part of our response to Covid 19 and in an effort to help students catch up on the time they lost during lockdown, we are planning to have a revision area in the Library where we will display revision guides and text books that will be available to borrow as Yr11 students begin to think about preparation for exams.
Obviously, all resources will be quarantined upon their return for the appropriate time to comply with current government guidelines.
Years 7 & 8 Orion
Students from our new Year 7 and 8 Orion groups enjoyed a day at Delamere Forest as part of a plan to introduce an element of outdoor education into the curriculum.
Students had a fantastic day and took part in a range of activities focused on improving team work and communication skills.
Everyone really enjoyed the day, which we hope will become a regular feature of the student experience at Blacon High School. We hope to be able to extend this to other groups as the year progresses and restrictions on movement are relaxed.
