Year 11 – The Final Push - Attendance and Expectations

Dear Parents and Carers,

As we have now entered the most important phase of the academic year, I would like to take this opportunity to remind you of the importance of students both attending school and maintaining exemplary conduct during the day.

I am pleased to inform you that behaviour in all exams so far, has been excellent.  As your child progresses through their final stage of Year 11, every lesson plays a crucial role in their preparation for the GCSE examinations. Consistent attendance and active participation in all lessons are vital for students’ academic success. Missing just one lesson can result in gaps in knowledge and skills, which could have a significant impact on their ability to perform to the best of their ability in exams.

Furthermore, we understand that this is a period of heightened stress and pressure for students. Therefore, our aim is to provide a structured and supportive environment that maximises learning opportunities and minimises distractions. By ensuring that all students remain on-site and in their timetabled lessons, we are able to support students in a more focused atmosphere conducive to revision, collaboration, and academic growth.

In line with this, students are expected to remain on site and attend all timetabled lessons. If your child needs to leave school for any valid reason, please contact us at your earliest convenience. Study Leave will officially begin on Friday 6th June, following the completion of the second English Language exam. However, should any student engage in behaviour that disrupts the learning of others prior to this date, they may be placed on early study leave. This would mean attending school only for scheduled exams.

We are also looking forward to celebrating with our students at the Year 11 Prom on 27th June—an event that is always a highlight of the school year. Please note that attendance at the Prom is by invitation, and we expect the highest standards of behaviour to be maintained throughout the remainder of the term.

Your continued support is invaluable as we work together to help every student reach their full potential. If you have any concerns or would like to discuss your child’s individual needs, please do not hesitate to contact Mrs Gibson Tipping (Year 11 Progress Leader), Mr Scoltock (Deputy Headteacher), or myself.

Thank you once again for your ongoing support as we guide our students through these important final weeks.

Regards,

Rachel Hudson,

Headteacher
