Blacon High students recently performed at the Cavern Club, Liverpool and we have received this lovely letter from one of our special audience members.
I was delighted to be invited to the Cavern Club stage, to watch two reduced Shakespeare plays, earlier this month. The students astounded me, with their interpretation of both The Tempest, one of the four tragedies, followed by Midsummer Night's Dream, a complex comedy.
The students had learned their lines brilliantly..even Judi Dench confesses to forgetting..and making up..lines in these difficult plays. But, not here. This just didn't happen. They all moved easily around the performance space, very aware of each other. They all seemed to know everyone else's part. These were two mightily impressive performances. I had to be reminded of their young age..15/16. The performances were in fact, part of their GCSE exams.
I thoroughly commend these students and their heroic efforts in expressing our most celebrated playwright.
Well done students of Blacon High School and their Drama teacher!
Thank you for letting me share in your stage life and good luck with your marks!
