On Tuesday 12th May, Lloyds Banking staff led "CV Buzz" sessions with our Year 9 students, when they learnt about the features that make up a quality CV. With these features in mind, students then produced their first CV. The Lloyds staff took the CVs away and produced individual feedback for each student.
On Tuesday, 2nd June, 17 professionals from Lloyds Banking visited school to work with all of our Year 9 students. In one session they coached our students on how to use the "STAR" technique in an interview situation (Situation, Task, Action, Result). Students then had the opportunity to apply these new skills in a one to one interview, receiving feedback on their performance. In between interviews students were given their CV feedback with suggested improvements. In another session students explored how to be more aware of, and how to plan, their personal finances. Finally, the day finished with a motivational talk
We would like to thank all of the 17 Lloyds Banking Group team members for giving up their time to work with our students. The sessions have focused our students on the value of good preparation when they make course and employment applications in the future, greatly boosting their life chances. A great deal of time and effort also went into the planning and production of the resources used by our students on the day.
We look forward to continuing this vital work with Lloyds Banking group with our Year 9s next year.
