We are seeking to appoint an outstanding and committed Teacher of History across Key Stages 3 and 4 to GCSE Level at this 11 – 16 high school, supporting students to develop an enquiry based approach to the past and providing the opportunity to explore the social, moral, spiritual and cultural aspects of History.
The successful candidate will work within a successful and established team to provide teaching across KS3 and KS4. Experience of achieving successful outcomes at KS4 in their PGCE/School Direct training/NQT year is a priority for the candidate.
Blacon High School prides itself on being restless and always striving for improvement. In our most recent OFSTED in January 2016 we were judged to be a good school. We are now looking towards improving upon this as we move forward. In September 2016 we moved into a new state of the art building. History is part of the Humanities faculty and works closely with colleagues in other departments to develop teaching and learning across the faculty.
At KS4 we follow the Eduqas syllabus. At Key Stage 3 we have created our own system for monitoring the progress of students known as the BAS (Blacon Assessment Steps), which is linked to transferrable skills in History.
