Teacher of Geography
Required to start September 2019
Full time, fixed term for one year in the first instance
We are seeking to appoint an outstanding and committed Teacher of Geography across Key Stages 3 and 4 to GCSE Level at this popular and oversubscribed 11 – 16 comprehensive high school, with the ability to achieve positive outcomes for all students, supporting them to develop their skills and understanding through an enquiry based approach to learning.
The successful candidate will work within a successful and established team to provide teaching across KS3 and KS4. Experience of achieving successful outcomes at KS4 in their PGCE/School Direct training/NQT year is a priority for the candidate.
In our most recent OFSTED in January 2016 we were judged to be a good school. In September 2016 we moved into a new state of the art building. Blacon High School prides itself on being relentless in its desire to provide outstanding learning opportunities, and the successful candidate will demonstrate these qualities. Geography is part of the Humanities faculty and works closely with colleagues in other departments to develop teaching and learning across the faculty.
At KS4 we follow the Eduqas syllabus. At Key Stage 3 we have created our own system for monitoring the progress of students known as the BAS (Blacon Assessment Steps), which is linked to transferrable skills in Geography.
