Teacher of English

MPS/UPS (possible TLR for the right candidate)
Required to start summer term 2019
Full time, permanent position but fixed term for one year in the first instance

We are seeking to appoint an outstanding and committed Teacher of English to teach across Key Stages 3 and 4 to GCSE Level. The successful candidate will be expected to support students to develop a thirst for knowledge and provide opportunities to explore a wide range of texts, read critically and use knowledge gained from wider reading to inform and improve their own writing in both English Language and English Literature.

Evidence of achieving outstanding outcomes at KS4 is desirable, although NQTs will be considered for the post. Blacon High School prides itself on being relentless in its desire to provide outstanding learning opportunities, and the successful candidate will join a well-established team of highly-motivated practitioners. As a leading department in the school, the English Team work closely with other departments to promote literacy in order to underpin good outcomes at each key stage across all subject areas.

At KS4 we currently follow the Eduqas syllabus but we are moving to Edexcel (Pearson) for first assessment in 2020. At Key Stage 3 schemes of work are linked closely to KS4 content, while assessment reflects the demands students face at GCSE.
