Following a suggestion by representatives of our school parliament, on Tuesday 22nd September, students held a cake sale in aid of cancer charity ‘Macmillan Cancer Support.’ Students chose this charity because they are aware of how many lives are affected by cancer locally and nationally, and wanted to do something to help.
Staff from the DT department helped students to bake and decorate a delicious variety of cakes and buns to sell in the Bistro during break and lunchtime. Needless to say, ‘they went like hot cakes’ and raised a fantastic £193.00 for the charity.
To add to the total, students are planning a coffee morning on 6th October when members of the community will be invited to join us. On this occasion, a light snack of sandwiches, a cake and tea or coffee will be served. Put the date in your in your diary!
All those who were involved in organizing and running the event send a big ‘thank you’ to everyone who bought a cake.
