Punctuality
Dear parents and carers,
I would like to remind you of the start time for school each day. School is open for breakfast each day in the diner from 8.00am and this is available at no cost to all students. A selection of bagels, cereal, toast and fruit is on offer each day and we encourage students to take full advantage of this so that they are set up for the day ahead.
Blacon High School recognises the link between attendance and successful outcomes, along with choices in life and success in the future. We aim to ensure the highest levels of attendance and punctuality, in order that all students at school can take full advantage of the education provided to achieve their full potential. Irregular attendance and punctuality undermines these opportunities and may place students at risk.
Students are expected to be in school by 8.40 and in registration by 8.45 each morning. From Monday 7th February, if any students arrive to school after 8.45am each day on two or more occasions, they will be in a Progress Leader detention during the lunch time on a Friday. If students do not attend the lunch detention, parents will be contacted and they will be required to remain in school for an after school detention on a Friday night.
When students apply for jobs, schools, college and apprenticeships, we are asked to provide a record of attendance and punctuality and so this is important preparation for future life and the world of work.
It is expected that students arrive to school on time and also to lessons. It is important that students are punctual to lessons as every moment of learning time is essential, particularly given how much disruption there has been over the last two years, due to Covid.
Thank you in advance for your support in this matter.
Regards,
Rachel Hudson
