Dear Parent or Carer
The HPV vaccine is available to boys and girls in school year 8
The human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine that protects against HPV-related cancers is available to all year 8 boys and girls.
By having this vaccination, your child will be protected against the most common cause of cervical cancer, some mouth and throat cancers, and some cancers of the anus and genital areas for many years to come.
Please read the PDF leaflet sent with this letter for information about the HPV vaccination. The e-consent link for the HPV vaccination is at the end of this letter.
We hope that the information provided in the leaflet addresses any concerns you or your child might have about the vaccination and that you will both feel confident that by having the HPV vaccine they will be protecting themselves from a very serious disease later in life.
We will also be offering the opportunity for your child to have the Covid-19 vaccination alongside the HPV vaccination. The Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation (JCVI) have declared it is safe to have both vaccinations simultaneously.
If you would like your child to receive the Covid-19 vaccination, please contact us on 01244 397470.
If you would like your child to receive their Covid-19 vaccination at another time, you can make an appointment for them via the National Booking System https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/coronavirus-covid-19/coronavirus-vaccination/book-coronavirus-vaccination/
The HPV vaccination programme for your High School, Blacon High School, is scheduled for: Friday 1st April
Your High School, Blacon High School, has a unique code that you will be prompted to input into the system. The code for your school is: CP111396
Please submit consent here https://www.cwpstartingwellimms.co.uk/Forms/HPV by 12 NOON THURSDAY 31ST MARCH to ensure that your child receives the vaccination.
It is important that you complete a consent form online before the deadline, otherwise your child will not be called for their vaccination.
If your child has had a reaction to any vaccine in the past, or has an allergy to any of the HPV vaccine components (the list of components can be found here: www.medicines.org.uk/emc/medicine/19016/SPC/gardasil) please contact us on 01244 397470 to discuss.
Should you have any other questions or queries about the HPV vaccination, please contact us on the number above or email cwp.0-19immsandscreening@nhs.net
Information about the vaccination will be added to your child’s health record after they have been vaccinated.
Yours faithfully,
School Aged Immunisation Service - CWP
