
Half Term 2 Blacon High School Sports Report
Volleyball
At Catholic High School, Blacon High School won the 1st ever Under 15 Boys & Girls Cheshire Volleyball Association Junior Championships competing against schools such as Christleton, Catholic, Sandbach, Weaverham & Winsford at Catholic High School. Both teams won four games and lost one meaning they were overall winners in the round robin tournament. Well done - Marcel Aziamale, Luke Jones, Charlie Cottis, Ellie May Challinor, Alisha Heap & Courtney Thornton who all played exceptional Volleyball against good teams and are Year 10 Girls Cheshire Volleyball Champions
And Year 10 Boys Cheshire Volleyball Champions.
Football
Year 7 Boys 5 a side Football Finalists – top 4 in Chester
Year 7 Girls Chester & District Football 5 a side Semi Finalists (lost on pens to Upton!)
Year 9 Boys Chester & District 7 a side Semi Finalists
Year 10 Boys Chester & District Football 7 a side Runners Up (lost Championship on goal difference, 2 goals)
Year 11 beat Scarisbrick Hall School 3-0 in Round three and beat All Hallows High School in Round four 4-3 thanks to a Brandon Burrows last minute winner after being 3-2 down with 5 minutes to go! Year 9 failed to join them in the last 16 of the ESFA Small Schools National Cup as they lost to De La Salle School. Year 11 in the last fours years have reached the last 16 of the National Small Schools Cup! To reach the final for the third year in a row would be incredible! Year 7 Boys lost 6-4 to De La Salle Round 2 of National Cup .
Year 7 Boys Football won 3-0 v UCEA, Year 9 Boys Football won 3-1 v UCEA but Year 8 Boys lost 7-4 to UCEA
Netball
Year 7/8/11 lost to Bishops Bluecoat
Year 7/8/9 girls Netball v John Summers School (yr7 drew, year 8 won & year 9 lost)
Year 7/8 girls Netball v Abbeygate College (yr 7 won, yr 8 lost)
Basketball
Year 10/11 Basketball team lost 36-18 to Christleton High School and 27-19 to Queens Park High School. We then played Catholic High School and lost 45-41 in another entertaining and close game. We are due to play Bishops Bluecoat in the New Year. Stand out players were Marcel Aziamale, Lewis Bridges, Charlie Cottis, Ty Wright, Joe Howard, Charlie Moore and Jake Sconce
Badminton
Year 8/9 and 10/11 boys played in the Chester and District Badminton tournament at Christleton High School. Year 8/9 were Henley Downridge, Callum Stokes, Cameron Eymond and Mason Cree. Years 10/11 were Charlie Cottis, Marcel Aziamale, Jake Dean and Layton Ashford. Both teams finished third in the tournament and played some good doubles Badminton.
Inter form Competitions
To finish Autumn term, Key stage 3 and year 9 and year 10 played inter form tournaments in there sports days teams before Christmas. The boys played Football, the year 7 and 8 girls played Netball and the year 9 and 10 girls played Dodgeball. All tournaments were played in good spirits, lots of sportsmanship and fun with students standing out to there peers and teachers. Winners were:

BEV PE – Basketball tournament coordinated by Mr Forbes/Mrs Wright and umpired by Marcel Aziamale, Charlie Cottis and Lewis Bridges. The Basketball tournament was competitive and exciting which was won by Dee Point Primary School.
