Football
Since September, the boys have played 21 competitive Football fixtures against schools inside and outside of the Chester District. Against Queens Park High School we beat Year 7 (4-2), Year 8 (4-1), Year 9 (2-0) Year 10 (6-2) and Year 11 (5-2).
Against Tarporley Year 7 lost 4-3 and Year 9 also lost 4-3 in entertaining games. Year 10 bounced back from an 8-1 defeat to King’s and beat Abbeygate 4-3 in the Chester Cup. They were 3-0 down after 10 minutes but showed character and determination to come from behind to win the cup tie! Year 7 team beat Abbeygate 8-2 and played some excellent attacking football. A mixed Year 8/9 team beat John Summers High School 2-1 and the Year 9 beat Catholic High 4-3 in a seven goal thriller. Year 7 beat Catholic High in the first round of the Chester Cup 3-2.
The Year 8 team finished the term with a defeat against Upton (5-2) and the Year 11 team were knocked out of the Cheshire Cup by Whitby 4-0. Year 10 lost 5-1 to Heber in the Chester Cup Quarter Final.
In the ESFA Small Schools Cup, Year 9 are flying in the competition, beating Notre Dame Catholic College 6-2 to reach round 3 of the competition. Year 7 beat Sacred Heart Catholic College 3-1 and Year 11 beat Ridgeway High School to enter round 3.
The Year 7 and Year 11 teams have played their Chester and District 7 a side football tournaments with both teams finishing 3rd in the group stage and missing out on the semi-finals.

Year 9 – Tyler Shone, Louis Harrison and Joe O’Gorman
Year 10 – Charlie Cottis, Aiden Field and Jack Lockley
Year 11 – Kieran Ball, Harley Bennion and Jake Dean
Kieran Ball and Brook Goodwin have both represented Cheshire Schoolboys and Joe O’Gorman, Joe Thompson, Harry Whitehouse, Kingsley Rodric, Tyler Shone and Louis Harrison are all part of the U14 Chester Schoolboys. Marcel Aziamale is a key member of the U15s Chester Schoolboys squad.
Brandon Burrows has been representing U16 Wales National team and has made the Wales U16 Victory Shield squad.
Girls played friendly matches against Catholic High School with Year 8 winning 3-0 and Year 7 and U16s drawing 0-0. The U14s played a 7 a side football tournament at Christleton but couldn’t breach the group stages.
Netball
Since September, the girls’ Year 7, 8, 9 and 10 teams have played competitive friendly matches against Bishops Heber, Queen’s and John Summers High School. The girls played some decent Netball and have worked hard to perfect their skills in weekly extra-curricular clubs with Mrs Carr, Mrs Wright and Miss Flynn. The effort in clubs is paying off with good performances against strong Bishop Heber teams. All teams are looking forward to future Chester and District Netball tournaments.

Basketball
Lewis Bridges in Year 10 has had successful trials and is a part of the U15 Wales National Team Basketball squad. He has been representing the North Wales Basketball team and playing in an all Welsh Basketball tournament was part of the selection process. He has more training before fixtures in the New Year.
Within the BEV PE, Mr Forbes has delivered two high quality PE competitions to our Blacon primary schools. We hosted the Year 5 and Year 6 Football tournament, refereed by our GCSE PE Leaders. Dee Point won the boys’ and girls’ competition. The Tag Rugby competition was enjoyed by all schools and was won by Highfield.
