Year 7

Students are introduced to the Musical Elements: Pitch, Structure, Tempo, Timbre, Duration, Dynamics and Timbre.

Students work in the elements above through performance, listening, composition and appraisal.

A large focus on developing practical skills and reading Treble Clef and all students will read Treble Clef notation.

The Units of study include:

Rhythms of the Nile

Popular Music

Ensemble Technique.

Year 8

Students continue to develop the use of the Musical Elements: pitch, structure, tempo, timbre, duration, dynamics and timbre.

Students work in the elements through performance, listening, composition and appraisal.

There is a large focus on developing practical skills and improvisation.

The Units of study include:

Reggae,

Making Connections (Improvisation around the world),

Film Music

Developing Ensemble skills.

KS4

Year 9

Introduction to the BTEC First Award Music comprising of 4 units of study:

Unit 1 Working in the Music Industry (externally assessed written exam),

Unit 2 Managing a Music Product,

Unit 3 Introduction to Live Sound

Unit 5 Introduction to Live Performance

Year 10
