On Monday 7th October, Blacon High School played host to guards from the Queen’s Own Yeomanry.
As students left school at the end of the day, they were able to chat to the guards who had brought along one of their armoured vehicles and the weaponry that would be attached to it in combat. Cadets from our Combined Cadet Force (CCF) were able to handle an A2 rifle and gain experience of night-vision goggles, scopes and sample the contents of ration packs used by soldiers on active service.
Cadets were also briefed about an upcoming training weekend with the Queen’s Own Yeomanry and gained an understanding their role as part of the British military forces.
