HAPPY EASTER

Hi All,
Well we made it to the end without too much further interruption from ‘you know what’!
I think that we all need congratulating. It has been a shared effort between staff, students, parents and carers to get this far. Yes, it has been hard work, yes, we have all had to be patient and make adjustments and yes, we have all had to develop new skills. However, it is testament to the maturity and resilience of our students that has made the transition back into school run as smoothly as it has.
Easter Fun

Lots of staff got creative last night and brought in decorated eggs today, just for a bit of fun. Here is a selection of some of the entries. We had: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, an SLT meeting with staff in the Hall and artist Frida Kahlo. The prize winner was Miss Thomas’ version of ‘The Spice Girls’.
However, funniest of all were the egg-cellent Avengers Heroes eggs that, unfortunately didn’t make it into school because Miss Illingworth forgot to hard boil them first!

Covid 19

Unfortunately, I have to mention Covid again as, just today, we have had to report three new cases; one member of staff and two students. Our best wishes go to those affected and we wish them a speedy recovery. A number of students were identified as close contacts and they were sent home this morning. It is unfortunate that his has happened at the start of the Easter holiday but it is important that those who are affected follow Public Health England advice and isolate in an effort to prevent further spread of the virus. Please also ensure that you continue to complete and report the outcome of your lateral flow Covid tests.
Great Fund Raising Effort

The Technology team have been really proactive about generating funds to buy some additional, specialised equipment to support their fantastic outcomes. They enlisted the support of the, fantastically generous, community of Blacon who donated some amazing prizes for a Grand Easter Draw. When all monies are in and counted, they will have raised in excess of £2000. Have a look at some of the fantastic prizes that were up for grabs in the raffle. There was, of course, lots of chocolate and food hampers, and there was also a mobile phone, several £50 vouchers and sporting gifts.
Thank you to everyone who donated a prize or bought tickets, and thanks also to the DT team for all of their great teamwork.

History Project

Plea for help.
Head of Humanities Mrs Owens has found a really good book with a history of Blacon through the ages and is hoping to turn the information into an interactive walking map of the area, where pupils can see what happened overlaid onto what the area looks like now.
If anyone has any interesting old photos of the area they may like to share, please send a digital image into school to: admin@blaconhigh.cheshire.sch.uk
And finally…
I’d like to take this opportunity to wish you all a restful and peaceful Easter holiday after, what has been, an ‘unusual’ term. We look forward to welcoming everyone back after the break and hope for a summer term without interruption as we complete all of the GCSE assessments and prepare to say goodbye to our Year 11s.
Stay safe
